The Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Góry Świętokrzyskie) are a low mountain range and geomorphological unit in southeastern Poland, in the central part of the Kielce Uplands in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The highest peak is Łysica, specifically its eastern summit Agata (614 m a.s.l.), in the Lysogóry range. The name of the mountain comes from the relics of the Holy Cross kept in the monastery on Łysa Góra. For centuries, fossils of prehistoric organisms have been discovered in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, which local inhabitants considered to be remnants of supernatural beings. These legends gradually became an integral part of the regional folklore. Due to the abundance and quality of preserved dinosaur tracks from the Mesozoic era, the sites in this mountain range are among the most significant in the world.
This challenge is based on two Polish badges. One is the Korona Gór Świętokrzyskich (PTTK Kielce) [https://kgs.info.pl/wykaz-szczytow-korony-gor-swietokrzyskich]
and the other is the Korona Świętokrzyska (Klub Zdobywców Koron Górskich Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej) [https://www.koronygor.pl/ksi]. The first badge is the main one and includes 28 peaks. Essentially, these are the highest peaks of the individual ranges and ridges of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. The second badge has only 15 peaks, most of which are already included in the first. Only two additional peaks were added: Łysa Góra and Góra Jeleniowska. As a bonus, one of the peaks is Łysice. Specifically, this bonus is the highest peak of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, as the western peak, which is one meter lower, was originally considered the highest, but is part of the original badge.
