Zelejowa (1,220 ft) is part of the Crown of the Holy Cross Mountains. The badge "Crown of the Holy Cross Mountains" is a regional badge of PTTK Świętokrzyskie branch in Kielce [https://kgs.info.pl/] and is the highest point of the Zelejów range, located northwest of Chęciny. It is composed of Devonian limestones interspersed with calcite veins. Zelejowa is the longest limestone ridge in the Holy Cross Mountains (about half a kilometer long) with numerous fissures and karst grooves. Two large quarries and several smaller quarry pits operated here. For centuries, beautiful varieties of Chęciny marble, known as Różanka Zelejowska, have been extracted from the "Szczerba" quarry, where white and pink calcite is colored by cherry hematite with greenish and blue inclusions of copper minerals. In 1954, a nature reserve was established at Zelejowa. At that time, the protection focused on rock formations with examples of karst weathering, geological outcrops with interesting tectonics and mineralization, and rare species of plants and animals. A black educational trail leads to the summit of Zelejowa. Near the summit, there is a red tourist trail from Chęciny to Kielce named after Sylwester Kowalczeski, and at the foot of the ridge, a blue tourist trail from Łagów to Chęciny named after Edmund Padechowicz.
