Sosnowica is the highest hill of the Tumlinské Hills, which stretch from the gorge of the Bobrza River in the west to the Sufraganiec Valley in the east. Sosnowica is composed of red Triassic sandstones, and near the summit, there is a Tumlinské sandstone quarry. As of March 2020, mining in the quarry has ceased. Near the summit, on the road from Kielce to Zagnańsk, a memorial was erected to commemorate the site where the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Home Army was formed in August 1944 to support the fighting Warsaw. The Silnica River springs from the eastern slopes of Sosnowica. North of the hill, in the village of Bartków in the Zagnańsk municipality, grows the oldest tree in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, the “king of the Świętokrzyskie forest,” an oak tree named Bartek. The red hiking trail, the Main Świętokrzyski Trail named after Edmund Massalski, runs over Sosnowica from Gołoszyce to Kuźniaki.
