It belongs to the Mischabel massif. It is located between Nadelhorn and Hohberghorn. The summit can be reached from Mischabelhütte (3340 m a.s.l.) and Bordierhütte (2886 m a.s.l.). The mountain is covered by the Riedgletscher glacier.

The first ascent to the summit was made on August 8, 1887, by Oscar Eckenstein and Matthias Zurbriggen.
