In the midst of a high mountain environment, at the foot of the northeast ridge of Lenzspitze, surrounded by 4000 m peaks, lies Mischabelhütte at an altitude of 3340 m above sea level like an eagle's nest. It is a useful destination and starting point for 4000m peaks.
Visitors to the hut today have two huts located approximately 10 meters apart, with the upper (new hut) featuring a kitchen, sleeping areas, a dining room, and sanitary facilities, which can be considered the main building. The lower hut serves as additional sleeping space and, if maintenance is not required, as a winter room. The owner and builder of Mischabelhütte is the Academic Alpine Club Zurich (AACZ). It offers 130 beds, dinner, breakfast, drinks, tea, and a small daily menu with predominantly regional specialties.
The ascent to the hut is marked continuously from Saas Fee, with steel cables and a ladder in the upper ridge area, taking about 4 hours. If you use the cable car to Hannig, the walking time is reduced by about 1 hour.
