The highest mountain in the Czech part of Šumava and the second most prominent and isolated in the entire Šumava. On the border with Austria, in German Plöckenstein (formerly also in the forms Plechensteyn or Pleckhenstein), meaning shiny stone. In the past, the summit was in a dense forest with no views, but since January 2007, when the hurricane Kyrill swept through Europe, the summit has been largely deforested, and its summit rock offers a beautiful panoramic view.
