Czech-Moravian Highlands, commonly known as Vysočina, is a vast geomorphological region in the southern part of the Czech Highlands. The northwestern half is Czech and the southeastern half is Moravian, with the border roughly following the line from Jindřichův Hradec - Jihlava - Žďár nad Sázavou. The highest peak is Javořice (837 m), but the most prominent is slightly lower Devět skal (836 m) in the Žďárské Hills. The Czech-Moravian Highlands also includes a large part of the Lower Austrian Waldviertel, which descends to the Danube in the south, beyond which the Alps begin.
