Romania offers some of the wildest mountains in Europe. Vast Carpathian massifs, deep forests, and long ridges create a landscape where nature still reigns supreme. The TOP 10 Romania challenge is an invitation to mountains that are neither polished nor overcrowded – and therein lies their strength.

The goal of the challenge is to conquer ten prominent Romanian peaks and experience the Carpathians in their natural form. The ascents often lead through remote terrain, where good navigation, respect for the weather, and heightened caution are necessary – especially in areas with wild bear populations.

Peaks in the challenge:
- TOP 10 highest P100
- TOP 10 highest P300
- TOP 10 most prominent

Interesting fact:
Although Moldoveanu (2544 m) is the highest mountain in Romania and Parângul Mare (2519 m) is slightly lower, Parângul Mare has greater topographic prominence.
The prominence of Romanian peaks is related to the overall structure of the Carpathians – Moldoveanu's prominence is tied to a higher peak outside Romania, specifically Gerlachovský štít, with the key saddle located a considerable distance beyond the Romanian border. The deep canyon of the Olt River, which separates Fagaraș from the Parâng Mountains, and the canyon of the Danube River to the south make Parângul Mare a very prominent mountain, thus the most prominent mountain in Romania.
