Třístoličník is the dominant mountain in the southeastern part of the Bavarian Forest. The granite rock formations at the summit, which represent "stools", are up to 25 meters high. Below the summit on the Bavarian side lies a stone sea of large granite boulders. This attractive peak is accessible to hikers from all directions, and right below the rocks stands the Dreisesselhaus restaurant.
The highest point on the Czech side reaches 1302 m above sea level (without prominence), while the summit rocks are on the German side of the border and form a subsidiary peak of Hochstein (1333 m, just under 500 m to the north), which is the main peak of the Třístoličník massif.
