Weisshorn is part of challenges: 48 Swiss 4000ers, Alpine Four-thousanders
Weisshorn is a 4,505 m high mountain in the Wallis Alps, rising to the east above the Mattertal valley near Randa, and to the west above the Val d'Anniviers valley in Switzerland. Weisshorn has the shape of a fairly regular three-sided pyramid, formed by three sharp ridges and steep walls.
Weisshorn is the fifth highest mountain in the Swiss Alps and is often regarded as one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps - in this regard, it is compared to Matterhorn, although it is not as well-known. In addition to its shape, climbers appreciate the relatively good quality of rock on the classic climbing routes that follow the ridges.
