A bivouac built in 1925 and renovated in 1966. However, in August 2019, the mountains collapsed and the hut fell due to global warming.
The construction of a new bivouac was the right choice. In August 2019, almost everyone mobilized to help restore the Périades bivouac: the town hall in Chamonix, FFCAM, Chamonix Mont-Blanc helicopters, Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, Ludovic Ravanel (CNRS researcher), and many mountain guides.
A call for donations was announced to partially fund helicopter rotations, cabin renovation, and to strengthen the platform with equipment that would secure the cabin.
The goal was to raise 800 euros, but people from all over France surprisingly donated a total of 14,230 euros.
The old bivouac could accommodate 3 people. The new one only holds 2 climbers, but it is better insulated. It is equipped with mattresses and blankets.
