The summit is accessible via the border path from July 15 to November 15. It is actually a double peak. On the Czech side, it has an elevation of 1367 meters, while on the Bavarian side (where the mountain is called Plattenhausenriegel), it reaches 1376 meters. Blatný vrch is the second highest peak in the entire Czech part of Šumava and the highest peak of the geomorphological subunit - Šumavské pláně.
