Säuling is part of challenge: Král Ammergauských Alp

Säuling is a mountain with two peaks on the border of Germany and Austria. The ascent from the German side in Hohenschwangau leads past Neuschwanstein Castle and then a challenging hike with an elevation gain of about 1300 m, offering views of the castle and lakes. From the Austrian side, the ascent from the Säulinghaus (currently closed) is shorter but more difficult, requiring the use of steel cables (via ferrata A/B). The summit cross is on the lower of the two peaks.

Chalet/accommodation

Säulinghaus about 1 km on the Austrian side is currently closed.
