Unlike its "big brother", Kleine Hafner is rarely climbed, although in terms of experiential value, it is by no means inferior. On the contrary: Overall, it is a bit more alpine, as there is only one secured passage and the rest of the ascent leads both under Lanischscharte and along the southeast ridge through a partially fragile and often loose tangle of blocks. The view from the summit is only diminished by the immediate proximity of the "big one".
