Thanks to the underground railway from Saas Fee to Mittelallalin, Allalinhorn is one of the most easily accessible four-thousanders in the Alps (glacier hike difficulty F, T6 according to SAC). The first ascent via the southwest ridge was made on August 28, 1856, by the pastor from Saas Grund, Johann Josef Imseng, and his servant Franz Josef Andermatten, with client Edward Levi Ames from England.
