Thanks to a complete reconstruction in 1997, Britannia hütte is a modern mountain hut in the Valais Alps. The hut has 115 comfortable beds, three dining rooms, and modern sanitary and technical systems.
All beds have pillows and blankets. Plenty of wood creates a cozy atmosphere in the dining rooms.
Waste is separated (paper, glass, PET, aluminum) and, along with wastewater, is sent down to the valley by helicopter for disposal. Solar energy is used for lighting and phones.
In the winter room, there are wood stoves. The roof collects melted and rainwater - in winter, drinking water is also obtained from the municipal network at Felskinnbahn.
Access:
1. Felskinn - Egginerjoch - Chessjen Glacier. Time approximately 1:15 h.
2. Saas Fee - Plattjen - Wandflue - Heidenfriedhof - Chessjen Glacier. Approximately 2 hours from Plattjen.
3. Saas Almagell - Zer Meiggeru - Mälliegge. Walking time approximately 4 hours from Saas Almagell.
4. Mattmark Dam - Schwarzberg - Allalingletscher - Hohlaubgletscher - Britannia Hut. (4 hours from the dam, 3 hours from Britannia hut).
