About chalet Adamekhütte

Rakousko Rakousko

Adamekhütte is a mountain hut in the Austrian Alps, located in the Dachstein area. It sits at an elevation of 2,196 m above sea level and is an important starting point for hikes and climbing ascents to Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m) and other surrounding peaks.

The hut was built in 1893 by the Austrian Alpine Club (Österreichischer Alpenverein) and named after Dr. Gustav Adamek, the then president of the club and a promoter of alpinism in the Dachstein area. Over the years, the hut has been renovated and expanded several times to better serve tourists and climbers.

Access to the hut
Adamekhütte can most commonly be reached from the Hallstatt or Gosau areas. The main access route leads from the Vorderer Gosausee lake, where the trail ascends around the Hinterer Gosausee and the Gosau Glacier (Gosaugletscher). The ascent takes approximately 4 to 5 hours.

The hut is open from June to September (depending on snow conditions) and offers accommodation for more than 80 guests in multi-bed rooms and on mattresses in the dormitory. There is a restaurant serving typical alpine dishes.
