About chalet Rifugio Monzino

Chalet Monzino, a beautiful building with 55 beds, was built in 1965 to replace the old Gamba hut from 1912, thanks to Franco Monzino, who donated it to the Courmayeur Alpine Guides.
It has an ideal location on a rocky ridge that separates the Brouillard Glacier from the Freney Glacier.
Access is from Val Veny (Freney) in about three hours. The hut is a starting point for many ascents on the southern side of the Mont Blanc massif. It is particularly a base for the following bivouacs:
bivouac Giuseppe Lampugnani - 3,860 m
Bivouac Marco Crippa - 3,840 m
Bivouac Piero Craveri - 3,490 m.
