Mönchsjochhütte is located in the heart of the Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site, at the foot of the Great Aletsch Glacier. It is the highest staffed hut entirely on Swiss soil.
The route to Mönchsjochhütte can have two scenarios: First, when the hut is open (March to October), the path from Jungfraujoch to Obers Mönchsjoch is prepared like a ski slope, and its boundaries are marked by poles. Then it is a simple and safe hike - even though you are on a glacier 3500 m above sea level! If the hut is closed, the path is not prepared, and access to the hut requires a high level of experience. The right rope for glacier travel and safe route choice are crucial (not too close to the dangerous seracs of the south face of the Monk!)
Capacity of 120 places, winter room 16 places.
