About chalet Solvay bivak
Švýcarsko
Emergency bivouac on the Matterhorn. The shelter on the Hörnligrat at an altitude of 4003 m is the highest mountain hut owned by the Swiss Alpine Club and should not be used except in real emergencies, such as sudden weather changes during descent. This simple shelter on an exposed ridge, donated by Belgian chemist and entrepreneur Ernest Solvay, was built over a hundred years ago. The narrow terrace of the bivouac is often used as a resting place for climbers during their ascent of the Matterhorn.
Capacity: 10 places.
