The north face of the Matterhorn is a dominant experience on the way to the hut in both summer and winter. Then, the view opens up to the equally beautiful white Dent d'Hérens, whose name likely comes from a plot involving Dent Blanche. The hut is surrounded by massive 4000 m peaks and is a starting point for high-altitude hikes, such as the Walliser Haute Route. You can also reach the mountain accommodation at the back of the Zmutt Valley via a hiking trail from Zermatt in 4:30 hours, or from Schwarzsee via Stafelalp in 2:30 hours.
Capacity of 70 places, winter room 12 places.
