The Lechquellen Mountains are located in the Northern Limestone Alps in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. The name of the mountain range refers to the area of the Lech River, which creates a characteristic horseshoe-shaped mountain landscape. Although it is one of the lesser-known alpine groups, it holds significant importance due to its preserved nature, prominent limestone peaks, and minimal human impact.

The range is primarily composed of limestones and dolomites of the Northern Limestone Alps. It features steep rock walls, extensive scree fields, deep mountain valleys, and rugged ridges. The highest point is Untere Wildgrubenspitze (2753 m with a prominence of 980 m), located west of Zürs, and was first ascended in 1877 by Andreas Madlener.

The symbol of the entire range is Rote Wand (2704 m with a prominence of 848 m), considered one of the most distinctive mountains in the range due to its silhouette. It gets its name from the striking band of red limestone in the more than 400-meter-high southern face. Additionally, one of the lowest-lying glaciers in the Northern Alps is located on the northern side of the summit.

The King Lechquellen Mountains challenge will take you to the most significant peaks of this remarkable range.
