Łysica is part of challenge: Crown of Mountains Poland
The highest mountain of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains (Góry Świętokrzyskie) and the entire Polish highlands. It has two peaks, 700 m apart, the western one with a cross and the eastern one with the Agata rock (also known as Zamczysko). Until 2018, it was believed that the western peak was the highest, but measurements conducted by employees of the Kielce University of Technology showed that the eastern Agata is slightly higher (613.96 m vs. 613.31 m).
As early as 1922, a strict nature reserve was established here (now the Świętokrzyski National Park), aimed at protecting unique forests with features characteristic of ancient forests. Rare bird species such as the lesser spotted eagle, the northern goshawk, and the common grasshopper warbler nest on the peaks. The Main Świętokrzyska Trail, named after Edmund Massalski, runs over the summit.
The rock outcrop known as Agata rock has a steep rocky slope with a significant incline on one side and a rock wall on the other side. For safety reasons, Agata rock is not accessible to tourists, and the marked path passes it by 75 meters.
