The site of the famous Battle of White Mountain (1620) from the Thirty Years' War. The grassy summit is crowned by a hill with several trees and a mound built by the Sokolská župa podbělohorská to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the battle in 1920. At the northeastern slope stands the summer palace Hvězda in the same-named game reserve.
From 1960 to 1974, the summit of Bílá hora was the highest point in Prague. Today, it is at least the highest mountain of the Pražská plošina range within Prague. The highest peak in Prague is Čihadlo (388 m) in the Brdy Ridge, the highest adjacent peak is Kopanina (392 m), and the highest point is a place called Teleček (399 m) on the western border of Prague.
