A prominent rocky peak above Lake Königsee. A beautiful via ferrata runs across all three summits of Watzmann. The middle peak, Mittelspitze, is the highest of the three. The highest mountain in Berchtesgaden National Park. The third highest mountain in Germany, not counting the associated peaks in the massif. A very challenging ascent. The shortest circular route around the Watzmann massif is 26 km with 2250 m of elevation gain and loss.
