The trail 903 leads to the summit. The nearest mountain hut is Rifugio De Gasperi, located 959 m southwest of the peak.

The surface is covered with vegetation mainly consisting of beech trees, black pines, and a few specimens of the loricate pine.

Hikes to Timpone della Capanna do not pose any particular difficulties; you can easily reach it from Belvedere di Malvento and ascend the southeastern ridge.

Alternatively, you can choose a circular route starting from Colle del Dragone, continuing to Pianicelli di Ruggio, and from there ascending to Timpone della Capanna from the western ridge. The descent follows the southeastern ridge to Belvedere del Malvento, where you can admire many specimens of the loricate pine growing on the valley walls below.

Along the Malvento valley, you can admire the "Beech of the Seven Sisters"; from there, you will continue to Piano Ruggio and then to Pianicelli di Ruggio. You proceed from there and arrive at Colle del Dragone, completing the circular route.
