Mrtvý vrch, also known as Šibeňák or Paradies for the locals, is a wooded hill near Kostomlát pod Milešovkou. It is a prominent hill by the road. The hill is difficult to access, as there is no marked trail leading to the summit. The ideal ascent is from the northwest side, where a distinct clearing in the forest is visible on maps. The western, southern, and eastern sides of the summit are relatively overgrown with shrubs. In the Middle Ages, there was a gallows at the top, which is how it got its name. Now, mature old trees at the summit create a quiet refuge for local wildlife, although they obstruct any views.
