The highest mountain in the Carnic Alps, located on the Austrian-Italian border. The Italian part lies in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, while the Austrian part is in the state of Carinthia. It is not only the highest mountain of the Carnic Alps but also of the entire Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.

The first ascent was made by Austrian climber Paul Grohmann on September 30, 1865. The mountain is composed of limestone.
