    Malý Kavkaz is a subrange of the Caucasus, stretching almost parallel to the Greater Caucasus, about 150 km further south. To the east, it borders the Pontic Mountains, to the southeast with the Armenian Highlands, and to the south with the Iranian mountain ranges Alborz and Zagros. The landscape is diverse, ranging from humid subtropical forests, through steppes, to high mountains, with numerous rivers, lakes, and volcanic plateaus. The highest peak is the Azerbaijani Gamış (3724 m).
