The Brandenberg Alps are located in northern Tyrol between the rivers Inn and Achensee. They are one of the less visited mountain ranges of the Northern Limestone Alps, characterized by extensive forests, grassy ridges, deep valleys, and massive limestone formations. The highest peak of the range is Hochiss (2,299 m with a prominence of 1,359 m), which, along with the Rofan massif, forms a dominant backdrop above Lake Achensee.

The mountain range offers a diverse range of ascents from easy hiking trails to more challenging ridge hikes and via ferratas. Due to its location, the peaks provide stunning views of the Karwendel, Kaisergebirge, Hohe Tauern, and Zillertal Alps, while maintaining a quieter atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of tourists compared to the surrounding more famous ranges.

The King of the Brandenberg Alps challenge will take you to the most significant peaks of the individual parts of the range. You can expect varied ascents, panoramic ridges, and remote mountain paths that showcase the best of this unjustly overlooked alpine range.

Peak characteristics in the challenge:

minimum elevation of 1,500 m,
minimum prominence of 300 m,
a hiking trail, unmarked path, or via ferrata leads to the summit,
summit ascent is not prohibited.
