The Allgäu Alps lie on the border of Germany and Austria and are among the most impressive ranges of the Northern Limestone Alps. They are characterized by massive limestone peaks, sharp rocky ridges, deep valleys, and extensive alpine meadows, creating a unique combination of high mountain wilderness and traditional alpine landscape. Although not the largest alpine range in terms of area, they concentrate an extraordinary number of prominent and easily recognizable peaks within their territory.

The diversity of the terrain makes the Allgäu Alps a sought-after destination for hikers and climbers. Here, you will find challenging high-altitude hikes, exposed ridges, secured paths, and classic mountain ascents. On clear days, the peaks offer views of the Lechtal Alps, Bregenz Forest, Ammergau Alps, and the distant glaciers of the Central Alps. Many of them are among the most photogenic mountains in the entire Northern Limestone Alps.

The King of the Allgäu Alps challenge will take you to the most significant and characteristic peaks of this range. Each of them represents a significant landmark of its region and offers a unique mountain experience. From the highest Großer Krottenkopf, through the elegant pyramid of Hochvogel, to the solitary Großer Widderstein or the table mountain Hoher Ifen.

Peak features in the challenge:
