About chalet Rifugio Nuvolau

Itálie Itálie

Rifugio Nuvolau is considered the oldest mountain hut in the Dolomites. It was opened on August 11, 1883, under the name Sachsendankhütte. Its construction was financed by the Saxon baron Richard von Meerheimb as a thank you for his recovery in Cortina d'Ampezzo. During World War I, it was heavily damaged and rebuilt between 1928 and 1930 under its current name.
