The Plan Glacier hut has its history rooted in the history of the Val Montjoie guides. For a long time, the guides combined their efforts to build and maintain a small refuge in this sector.

The first hut was built around 2580 m below the Tricot glacier. The first winter, it was destroyed by an avalanche. The second hut was built higher, on the moraine on the right bank. After a few years, it was destroyed by a falling avalanche. The guides then decided to build it in its current location, under steep cliffs, above a steep scree.

It is a magical and wild place, with a view of the Miage domes, offering beautiful sunsets. Recently renovated, it remains 'rustic', with little running water, a small room inside, little space around, but you can spend pleasant evenings there.

Climbers use this spot to reach the higher Durier hut and to ascend the north face of the Miage domes, especially the beautiful Mettrier ridge. However, hikers also like to come and spend the night on the beautiful loop from Les Houches to Les Contamines or Saint-Gervais.

Since 2019, the new managers Yann and Annabelle generally welcome you from mid-June to mid-September.
