About chalet Oberaletschhütte

A massive stone house at the foot of Fusshörner, in the midst of the Aletschhorn, Schinhorn, and Nesthorn glacial area. The hut is a starting point for various skiing, mountain, and climbing tours. Due to the retreat of the glacier, the direct route across the Oberaletsch glacier has become increasingly difficult and impassable for many. The new panoramic path over Lochegga is now a tourist attraction in the UNESCO World Heritage area.
In summer, you can reach the hut from Belalp in 4 - 5 hours and from Riederfurka in 5 - 7 hours. The path is wide, and exposed sections are secured with chains. There are no climbing spots. The difficulty is T3 on the alpine hiking scale. It is recommended for children under 10 years to be secured in the exposed parts of the panoramic path.
For the ski touring season in spring (winter), access from Belalp is recommended only.
