In solitude, quite comfortable, cozy high-altitude bivouac, in the middle of a glacial basin. A long hike over the glacier from Grimsel Hospiz through the Unteraar and Finsteraar glaciers. Impressive view directly at the eastern face of Finsteraarhorn. Starting point for challenging high-altitude ascents to Lauteraarhorn, Finsteraarhorn, or Studerhorn and crossings between Strahleggpass and Schreckhornhütte (partially marked), Finsteraarjoch and Agassizjoch.
The bivouac offers 17 beds. Blankets, woolen blankets, and fleece sleeping bags are available. Bring your own sleeping bag. Slippers in various sizes are available. Kitchen and dining utensils and cutlery are provided. The hut has 3 camping gas stoves and gas cartridges until depleted (Campingaz Easy Clic, 450 g). Bring your own small gas cartridge (only Campingaz Easy Clic, e.g., 230 g) to ensure you can cook. Water is located 30 m south on the rock face, in a rain barrel or at the glacier (20 minutes). Sweet drinks and non-alcoholic beer are available in the cupboard. Aarbiwak has an emergency radio system REGA. Mobile phones have no reception in the wider area of the hut.
