About chalet Refuge de Tête Rousse
Francie
Mountain hut in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps. It is located next to the Tête Rousse glacier at an altitude of 3,167 m. The owner is the Club Alpin Francais (CAF), and it is usually accessible after approximately a two-hour ascent from Nid d'Aigle, the highest stop on the Mont Blanc train. It is commonly used by climbers attempting to ascend the 'normal route' on the French side (Goûter) to the summit of Mont Blanc.
The hut was completely renovated in 2003 and can accommodate 72 people in summer and 16 people in winter. Due to the popularity of the Goûter route for climbing Mont Blanc, both huts only accept reservations in advance and also require confirmation three days before arrival. Camping at high altitude is prohibited on this route, but it is allowed on the snowfield above the Tête Rousse hut. In 2019, a base camp was established on this snowfield, where overnight stays are possible, but a reservation is also required. Camping with a private tent is completely prohibited. Accommodation at the Tête Rousse base camp includes 6 group tents (of the 'Himalayan base camp' type), each with a capacity of 8 people, equipped with camp beds including pillows and blankets.
