Hildesheimer Hütte (2,899 m) is located high in the mountains, at the transition from the Stubai to the Ötztal Alps. It is situated in the southern Stubai Alps above Windachtal, which leads up from Sölden and Ötztal. It is surrounded by impressive peaks such as Zuckerhütl (3,507 m), the highest mountain in the Stubai Alps, Pfaffenschneide (3,498 m), Wilder Pfaff (3,458 m), Stubaier Wildspitze (3,340 m), Schussgrubenkogel (3,211 m), Schaufelspitze (3,333 m), and Gaiskogel (3,129 m).
The shortest route to the hut:
By cable car from Stubai to Eisjoch and Schaufeljoch (3,158 m). The trail to the hut leads over Gaiskarferner and along a marked path with beautiful views of the hut.
Walking time: 1 h
Alternative route:
From Sölden (1,350 m), you can walk to Windachtal, to Fiegl's Gasthaus (1,959 m), or take a tourist bus or mountain taxi to Fiegl. From there, head up to Windachtal, slightly uphill, to the junction. At this intersection, climbers can choose between an easier and longer route or a steeper and shorter one. Ludwig-Aschenbrenner-Weg is easier and longer than Steile-Gaiskar-Weg, which lives up to its name. In terms of time, it is roughly balanced. It takes about five hours from Sölden and three hours from Fiegl.

24 rooms, 56 beds, winter room 12 beds, heated, there was little wood left in spring.
