Korzhenevskaya Peak is part of challenge: Snow Leopard

Korzhenevskaya Peak (Russian: пик Корженевской) is the third highest peak in Tajikistan, standing at 7,105 m. It is located in the Pamir Mountains, 13 km north of Ismail Samani Peak (formerly known as Communism Peak), which is the highest peak of the Pamirs.

The mountain was discovered in 1910 by Russian geographer Nikolai Korzhenevsky and named after his wife, Yevgenia. Several larger glaciers surround the peak.

It was first ascended in 1953 by Soviet climbers. Korzhenevskaya Peak was one of the five seven-thousanders (including Chan Tengri, which is often cited as 6,995 m) that a Soviet climber had to summit to earn the Snow Leopard Award – the highest honor for climbers in the former USSR. Korzhenevskaya Peak was reportedly the second easiest peak after Lenin Peak. However, it is no small mountain. Korzhenevskaya Peak is popular among climbers for its relatively low technical difficulty and good accessibility by transport.
