Mytikas is part of challenges: Highest Geographical Points of Europe, Highest Mountains of European Countries, Ultraprominent Europe
The highest peak of the Olympus mountain range, the highest mountain in Greece, and the second most prominent mountain in the entire Balkans (after Musala). The best way to start the ascent is from the village of Prionia. The trail leads towards the Spilios Agapitos hut (Refuge A), where there is an opportunity for rest and refreshments (and accommodation). The path to the hut goes through the forest for most of the way. After the hut, the trail continues to the subpeak Skala. The ascent is steep, and the forest recedes here. After reaching Skala, there is a section of descent and ascent to the summit itself. The trail is well marked with red signs. This is the "dangerous" part of the ascent, where climbing on rocks is required. It is essential to concentrate here to avoid falling. The descent from the summit follows the same route back to Skala and then down to the parking lot in Prionia.
