Three massive forms of "Kofel" - along with many other equally famous mountain peaks - essentially form the mountain world around the renowned ski resort of Nassfeld in the Carnic region:
Gartnerkofel, Roßkofel, and Trogkofel.

At an elevation of 2280 meters above sea level on the Adriatic, Trogkofel is the highest of this Kofel group. Viewed from Gailtal, it is probably one of the most beautiful and prominent peaks of the Carnic Alps east of Plöckenpass. It stands alone with a massive summit structure made of Trogkofel limestone from the older Permian period.

You can climb Trogkofel - the Italians refer to it as "Creta di Aip" on their hiking maps - from various sides and with all possible difficulties. Depending on your mood and personal judgment. With a variant on the established route via "Uiberlacher Steig," this suggested path offers one of the somewhat easier ways to reach the summit.
