Viewpoint on the Lim Channel – a hydromorphological phenomenon on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia, located south of the town of Poreč, near Vrsar and Rovinj. The valley is 35 km long and the channel is over 10 km, with a depth of 30 m and a width of nearly 600 m. Steep mountains rise up to 100 m on both sides. In 1980, the channel became a protected area where diving, fishing, and gasoline boats are prohibited. The name 'channel' was given by the Romans, as the Lim Gorge was the boundary between the provinces of Dalmatia and Italy. There is the Romuald Cave, where Saint Romuald lived, and the Baredine karst cave with a depth of 66 meters. Oysters, mussels, common sea bream, and sea perch are farmed in the bay and can be tasted in local restaurants. Forests grow around, and wild boars, foxes, deer, hawks, vultures, and owls inhabit the mountains. The channel can be visited by boat, bus, or on foot.
