Významný bod Ilhéu de Monchique was added here by Jan Matiášek and info was completed by Martin Matějka.
Ilhéu de Monchique is part of challenge: Highest Geographical Points of Europe
The westernmost point of the islet Ilhéu de Monchique near the island of Flores, Azores archipelago and Portugal. However, it is not the westernmost point of Europe, as the island of Flores (and its northern neighbor Corvo) lies on the North American tectonic plate. The westernmost point of Europe, including the islands, is located on the Azorean island of Faial, beneath the volcano Capelinhos, which was formed only in 1957.
