A prominent mountain in the German part of Šumava, 14 km west-northwest of Plechý, the highest peak in the Czech part of the range. The summit is characterized by visible structures from afar - an observation tower and a transmitter. The tower offers a fantastic panoramic view, with voluntary entrance fee. The slopes of Haidel are crisscrossed with paved paths, which are groomed for cross-country skiing in winter.
