The Kościuszko Mound is one of the four mounds in Kraków dedicated to Polish national heroes. This one is dedicated to Tadeusz Kościuszko and is located at the top of Sikornik Hill, also known as the Hill of Saint Bronislava, in the western part of Kraków in the Zwierzyniec district. (mapy.cz)
The mound stands in a fortified area that strikingly resembles the Terezín fortress, where you can enjoy coffee in two cafés. The mound surprises with its steep slope and views, if the weather is favorable. However, the Poles have turned this mound into a tourist attraction and a piggy bank for donations, so prepare your wallet with about 150 CZK, or 25 PLN, which will jingle in the Polish donation box. During the ascent, you will encounter a site with bones from the time of mammoth hunters.
