Nui Chua (565 m a.s.l., Phu Quoc)
Register and log summitAbout peak Nui Chua
Vietnam
Vrchol Nui Chua was added here by Jiří Králík and info was completed by Martin Matějka.
The highest mountain of the island.
There are paths leading to the summit from the east and west, where the paths meet at the saddle and continue to the peak.
!! Currently, entry for tourists is prohibited !!
Both access routes are strictly monitored, with a gate and a guard present. Our attempts to pass were unsuccessful from both sides, and we were rudely turned back by the guard without explanation.
I found out that the summit was once freely accessible, but now it is in the most guarded area of the island and is located in a national park listed by UNESCO. Previously, it was possible to ascend with a guide. We tried to find a guide through several contacts, including locals, but without success. I have information that the summit is now also a military zone.
From the summit, there is a view of the entire national park. There are several viewpoints, including the summit rock.
Beware of guides; they will claim to take you to the highest peak, but you will only go to a viewpoint below the Tien Son peak in the south of the island, which is about the 30th highest. You will only see the south of the island, where it really looks like you are on the highest hill, but anyone who is not foolish and has a map will see through it immediately. (This viewpoint is 22 km away from the Nui Chua summit, and still, many tourists online do not realize this). This leads to a lot of false information and incorrect photos.
