The summit of the mountain is barren and densely forested with spruces. There is only a geodetic point and a wooden sign with the name and height. The height is 999.1 m, although some maps and publications occasionally incorrectly state 1001 or 1003 m.
A small interesting fact is that Velký Lipový lies on the local watershed of the Morávka River (a tributary of the Ostravice) and the Ropičanka River (a tributary of the Olše), whose waters meet only after more than 50 km, at the confluence of the Olše and Odra rivers.
