Ascent:
From Martigny, we head towards Gd. St. Bernard. In the village of Liddes, we turn right down to Dranse, cross the stream, and park just behind the inn. We set off directly upwards on the snowy (grassy) slope, which leads us up to the forest. We continue through the forest, always upwards. We can't go anywhere else - on our right is the valley and on our left is the gully. Once we get above the tree line, the summit reveals itself just above us. In summer, it seems that one can walk along the ridge all the way up, but on skis, it is more common to traverse left behind the next ridge, where the ascent is less steep.
