Halti is part of challenges: Highest Geographical Points of Europe, Highest Mountains of European Countries
The highest mountain in Finland. Accessible from the Finnish side via a well-marked, yet 53 km long trail from the visitor center in Kilpisjärvi. There are huts approximately every 10 km along the way, but they are often full during the season, so it is recommended to carry a tent. There are plenty of water sources along the route. The path from the Norwegian side is significantly shorter, an unmarked "trail" over rocky slopes.
The highest point on Finnish territory is the border marker 303B (elevation 1324 m, zero prominence). The summit of Halti (elevation 1331 m, prominence 47 m) lies 120 meters north of marker 303B (on the Norwegian side, 100 meters beyond the border). The highest peak of the entire massif is Ráisduattarháldi (elevation 1361 m, prominence 501 m, isolation 32 km), but it is more than a kilometer beyond the border.
