Since the beginning of July 2006, the Jánošík-famous Terchová (now approximately 4000 inhabitants) has a new "tourist attraction". It is a very untraditionally designed Stations of the Cross leading to the nearby peak Oravcové (632 m). The author of this Stations of the Cross is a local native, academic sculptor Milan Opalka. He used stone and glass as "building materials". And although the individual stations look more like concrete prefabricates, they are made of high-quality Terchov sandstone. This stone was originally used for the pillars of the railway bridge between Žilina and Budatín and returned to its place of origin – in a completely new form – after more than a hundred years.
