Średniak, 1210 m above sea level, known in German as Mittelberg, is a prominent peak of the Králický Sněžník massif ridge, which extends gently northwest across the mountain meadow Hala pod Śnieżnikem and a secondary peak at an elevation of 1185 m. Średniak is separated from Sněžník by the Przełęcz Śnieżnicka saddle. The northern slope of the mountain steeply descends into the valley of the initial flow of the Wilczka River, while the southern and western slopes drop into the valley of the Czarna stream, which eventually flows into the Wilczka River.
